Escape the winter with the Relationship First-Aid Kit approach to couples-counseling
This Two and a Half-day retreat gives professionals an opportunity to train in the use of Collaborative Couple Therapy (CCT) as well as escape the winter and take time out to relax, unwind and reflect on practice. Each Day has a focus on reflective practice where attendees can reflect on their professional and personal life. Attendees will be provided with hard copies and PDF version of notes and handouts, including the handouts that Tim uses in his work with couples for your own use in your clinical work.
Day 1 Morning Session: Overview of The Relationship First Aid Kit. Integrating the Collaborative Therapy Approach and trauma theory to couple work - how and why couples lose their communication and helping couples to solve their difficult moments with a simple and effective communication tool. Exploring the many ways that common defenses against strong emotions emerge as relationship problems. LUNCH BREAK - have a swim or a relaxing walk around Port Douglas After lunch session: Love, sex, money and parenting - exploring the practical aspects of relating - getting on the same page with negotiation and problem-solving skills, and demonstrating how couples can use the 'Field of Negotiation' Tool. How couples can view their relationship as a vehicle for growth and healing: Couples who coach; Couples who counter-condition and how partners can deactivate old triggers. Late-afternoon reflective-practice session: reflecting on the impact of your work as a clinician Day 2 Love, Loving and Being Loved Exploring the importance of desire and gratitude in a relationship. How and why partners back away from love and what they can do to open up to love. LUNCH BREAK - have a swim or a relaxing walk After lunch session: Using The Relationship First Aid Kit and the Collaborative Therapy Approach in response to common acute problems as well as chronic couple-issues. The power of 'doubling' in helping couples to become unstuck. Late-afternoon reflective-practice session: reflecting on breaking-through your own relationship challenges in light of the Relationship First-Aid Kit approach Day 3 Using The Relationship First Aid Kit approaches in your clinical work and in your own relationships with partners, family and friends. Reflective-practice session: Sustaining your passion, purpose and wellbeing in your work. Wrap up and Close . PLEASE NOTE: This is a retreat so numbers are limited to 16 only.
